If God Were a Tree in Autumn
I want to be surrounded by so much gold,
lost in soft warm light, a hundred arms
holding me loosely, swinging me into
a wild blue sky. I want to let go of
knotted fingers and let myself tumble,
unafraid of falling because the autumn leaves
are endless and there is no unforgiving
earth to break my fall. I want to
stand under swollen branches, golden kisses
fluttering across my skin, so many
the wasted ones gather around my feet
begging to be picked up and tossed into
the wind for some other hungry soul,
for some long forgotten wish, for you.
I want to disappear in a fiery dance of color
the beauty of it all crying out to be remembered
as the butter glow of love picks me up,
pulls me close, and tattoos the scent of
season's change onto my greedy skin.
This may be my favorite poem by you. It's so lush and rich, so many gorgeous words.

When I saw the photo and read that a poem awaited me, my heart skipped a beat.
When I read your words my heart expanded and golden leaves flitted into and around it.
Thank you for the beautiful gift.

I enjoyed this poem.
Have you seriously ever considered putting a book together of selected poems and photos? You have the talent and the material...
I recently wrote a book and I started out just writing it for myself as a small project that was bigger then writing a dairy, but smaller than writing a book (because saying to myself and others "I'm going to write a book" just sounded too outlandish!). I finished it in no time and it was a relatively easy painless process.
I would definately buy a copy. Perhaps you could bask in the idea that you already have a ready, eager global audience.

This is beautiful. I've never been to Texas in the fall - but my one wish for you - since you love fall and the colors as much as I do - is that you get to experience Autumn in New England, at least once in your life. It is spectacular.
