She heard their warnings
felt the sting of their slaps
on the top of her hand.
"Stop! Don't touch them!
They're hot. They'll burn you.
They're sharp. They'll cut you."
And so she withdrew her hand
from the black sky and put it
back into her pocket,
a little stardust on each fingertip.
But she was never satisfied with
just stealing a touch.
No, what they didn't know was
how her hunger grew,
how the rumble woke her
in the night,
how she cried from longing.
No, what they didn't know was
how she always felt a little empty
and how she dreamed of a belly
full of stars.

This is the most beautiful photo... the colour of the flowers reflected in your eyes too.... beautiful Michelle.
The poem is haunting... fabulous also.

"A little stardust on each fingertip" ending with "a belly full of stars"--YES! I felt your poem rather than read it...can I also say that all of your recent blossom photos are stunning? I'm so glad I checked in and got to see them...
Love,
D.

Very nice poem. I liked it more than a cookie. You seem like a beautiful friend, or maybe just a flower of more advanced intelligence. Have a nice day and thanks for your work here.

I felt your words as I read them...I was always told to pull back when I wanted to reach for more of life. I still have the stardust twinkling on my fingertips, wanting more...
